Hidden away from mortal eyes, the World of Darkness is alive and well. Vampires are everywhere, well hidden… at least, that is what they think.
The Anarch governments are establishing their dominion all around the world, to the chagrin of Camarilla loyalists. The Second Inquisition has begun, with Kindred death tolls rising every day. It is a dangerous time in the World of Darkness, which only leaves one question…
Who the hell should YOU play in this mess?
There are lot of different ways to play Vampire the Masquerade. One of the best aspects of V5 is that you can customize your character in anyway you wish. With tweaks here and there, it makes it easy to be able to make the Kindred of your dreams.
So – what kind of vampire are you?
The Classic
Ah, the Nosferatu. The classic anti-socialite. Hiding in the shadows, waiting to strike with their menacing teeth and immense strength. Lucky for you, player – there is an entire family of these hidden dwellers. The Nosferatu are fantastic secret collectors – world renowned hackers, spies, and thieves, Nosferatu’s are the stealthiest creatures in the World of Darkness. If this appeals to you, make sure to make your two point Discipline focus in Obfuscate. Boost it even further by taking the Bagger or Sandman Predator Type, making you the truly invisible creature of the night of your dreams.
The only downside is that for our dear Nosferatu will never become America’s Next Top Model. Nosferatu players are immediately given the character Flaw Looks: Repulsive. So, if you really want to play a Nosferatu who is a world famous actor, you better be ready to dump everything advantage point you have into the Beautiful Merit.
The Charisma
In search of that special someone or people to spend your eternal life with? Or maybe just someone to spend the evening with?
If you want to summon your inner Don Juan, make sure to jump into the Toreador family. The Toreador’s are a family of high art divas who love beauty in all of it’s forms. It will also give you access to the Discipline Presence, allowing you to either fill people around you with awe of your reverence. Make sure to then take the Predator Type Osiris or Siren. Osiris will give you access to a following you are able to easily drink from whenever you are filling the Hunger kick in more than usual.
As for Siren… well, let’s just say, talk to your RPG group to figure out your group’s NSFW limits. This one can definitely be helpful if you want some points in seduction and beauty. Just feel free to use ‘fade to black’ whenever you are unsure when feeding.
The Mighty and Brooding
Oh boy. Okay. There is nothing wrong with playing Edward Cullen. Just be careful not to make it too much of the brooding rogue in the corner who says nothing.
If you want to play a powerful, yet heartfelt vampire, then choose the Brujah or Gangrel family. Brujah will give you access to Potence, which will allow you to gain access to incredible strength, while Gangrel will give you Animalism that can help you welcome some animalistic weapons and abilities.
Regardless of your choice of family, your two best choices for Predator Type is either Farmer or Consensualist. Farmer will allow to feed exclusively from animals, while Consensualist will give you a group of people who allow you to drink from them willingly. Both of these will give you a boost to your Humanity, but being a Farmer Predator Type will last for the first few millennia until your thirst can only be quenched from human blood.
Just, for the love of God – please don’t creep on the people who are allowing you to drink from them. Especially when they are sleeping.
