The Meiji Restoration has begun in Japan. There has been an eruption in technological development, especially in the locomotive industry. You play as an entrepreneur trying to establish as much of a hold on the locomotive industry as possible throughout the island of Shikoku. Build alliances with other players, or grow your business solo, without having to sacrifice any of your wealth or power. Accumulate the most wealth of the players at the table by the end of the game to win!
This game is based on the 18xx game genre, allowing for easy learning and teaching. While 18xx style games do have a reputation for long game times with complex rules, that does not mean that it is too complicated to learn. Shikoku prides itself on straightforward rules and creating a perfect information system, allowing players to all be on a level playing field when they come to the table. Every game is different and ensures that no one player will have a competitive advantage, regardless of prior experience.
